Duane Chapman
Founding Member Duane Chapman identified as a gay, Black man. He was "the Chair of the Human Relations Commission for many years... he served on the COR Crime Prevention Executive Board of Directors; was the former Chair of the Contra Costa County Mental Health Commission and played an active role with both the Richmond Police Activities League Youth Scholarship program and Road to the Future Foster Care Youth Conference."
As a Richmond resident in the 1980s, Duane helped shape the conversation around AIDS in Richmond by helping to get services for patients. Later, he was administrative Coordinator at Walden House. After he retired, he co-founded Richmond Rainbow Pride along with activist Cesar Zepeda. While volunteering with the Richmond Police Department, and Richmond's Juneteenth Festival. He passed away on November 30, 2018.
